Solid ash dining surface, 1800×900×32mm, glued up from 4–6 quartersawn staves with grain running along the 1800mm length. Top edges carry a light 3mm eased chamfer. Underside must have eight 8mm-diameter pilot holes (slightly undersized relative to M4×40 screws, approximately 3.2mm) positioned to receive screw holes from the eight wooden buttons. Top surface rests on the top faces of all four legs and both top rails, providing 200mm end overhang and 100mm side overhang for dining comfort.
